Outreach

In only three years of full time ministry Jesus Christ served the poor, the forgotten, and crippled, and we are excited to follow in His footsteps by helping the less fortunate. We must strive to live a balanced life as He did.

In Luke 7:22 Jesus said to John the Baptist’s disciples who were questioning whether or not He was the Messiah, "...Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard – the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor."(NLT) Only one of those responses seems out of line. Our way of thinking would probably be to say to His last comment, if we were keeping in line with the others, for example, "the blind see, the lame walk", "the poor are being given money". However Jesus knew that the poor needed to know Him personally and follow Him more than anything. We need to have the same balance. We need to help the poor and less fortunate as He did, but we need to share the love of Jesus with them as we serve them. Otherwise they will just think we are nice people who are trying to assuage our guilty consciences by getting our hands dirty.
